whenever i use only one exclamation point i feel like a middle-aged dad who just discovered the internet!
A feminist and an anti-feminist walk into a bar. They sit down and have a drink together because they’re adults who don’t let personal views effect their decisions on who they should or should not associate with.
This looked to me like a post that would receive a lot of hate, and after some further inspection, I was right. The thing that bothers me about this post is not the post itself, but the reaction to it.
I understand why anti-feminism would immediately spark a knee-jerk reaction of “all women should revert back to not being able to vote or leave the kitchen.” But if you did any research at all, you would learn that that’s not what anti-feminism is at all.
And the ‘text book definition’ might not always be the way people define something anymore. When people say ‘gay’ people get offended because after a certain amount of time it became derogatory.
After doing some research, I found out that anti-feminists have chosen to re-define what it is.
It is not the textbook definition.
Just like how not all of us are gay everyday, they no longer strongly oppose women having rights.
What they do oppose, however, is the way people treat feminism as a shield to hide behind their secret sexist agenda of making women feel as though they deserve all of the power as opposed to an equal amount. From what anti-feminists have seen, feminism is no longer a way to fight for equal rights, but to bully and prod those who believe women already have them.
You preach equality and then fail to realize that women can be the abusers to. Even when there are posts going around and everyone is “huzzah-ing” about that, there are still feminists out there that think women should be treated in a higher regard than man.
And the people who get offended when being mis-gendered go on to rant about feminism when in it’s core, the word ‘fem’ being strictly female means that there is no room for men in the core of it.
At some point, people felt being a feminist was just… Too hardcore. They fall back into talking about being an ‘equalist’, ‘egalitarian’ or… Whatever.
Anti-feminism is about more than just hating women.
Just like being bisexual is more about love and appreciation, and not just an attack against those who are transgender.
Not everything is a personal attack.
And most things are more than they seem.
This post is about accepting and listening to the opinions of others, and not just boxing everyone in the face because oh, no, there are people who identify as something that I’ve only ever identified in my brain as bad.
We must attack!
Being Catholic is not all about hating women and gays.
Being anti-feminist is not all about hating women.
Being human…. Is not all about hate.
